What’s for Lunch? – Gurney Paragon Edition (Part 1)

Gurney Paragon? WHAT?! Isn’t it a bit too far from Bayan Lepas office area for lunch?! Well, personally I’d never tried to get there during lunch time but perhaps some of the more adventure foodies would like to try out? =P

So what is the 1^st thing that comes to your mind when Gurney Paragon is mentioned? Too high-end? Let’s list down some restaurants to STEAL, SPEND or SPLURGE in Gurney Paragon. Yes, I stole the Steal, Spend or Splurge idea from fashion magazine. LOL!

STEAL – Gurney Paragon Foodcourt

Let’s say you are short on cash and your colleagues insist to come to Gurney Paragon for lunch? Where should you suggest? The Foodcourt of course!!! Gurney Paragon Foodcourt is located at 5^th floor and provided lots of food stalls serving local and foreign cuisines.

One of the must-try is Mr Shawerma – made famous by the Avenger’s movie. Shawarma is a Levantine Arab meat preparation, where lamb, chicken, turkey, beef, veal, or mixed meats are placed on a rotating spit and may be grilled for as long as a day (link). Their Shawarma is simply delicious.

There are a few choices such as Shawarma rice set, Shawarma platter & Shawarma Wrap. All of these are wonderful but my absolute favourite is the wrap – all the juicy well-marinated meaty goodness wrapped together. Definitely a LOVE at first bite… *starry eyes*

You might also want to order the beetroot + fruit juice to drench your thirst in such hot weather. I never know beetroot juice tastes so nice. Definitely another STEAL!!!

SPEND – Sushi Zanmai

Let’s say now your wallet is thicker and would like to enjoy something else other than foodcourt but not too expensive either? Sushi Zanmai might be the place for you! The place is so popular until there is a long queue during peak hour. When in doubt, follow the Queue!!!

One thing good about the place is you can order the food by size – such as small size soba or small size ten-don. One of my favourite is the salmon sushi platter right here. However, I must say my loyalty for everyday Japanese food definitely lay with Sushi Tei but that would be another story since there is no Sushi Tei in Gurney Paragon. =P

SPLURGE – Italiannies

Now you just got your salary and your wallet is too thick? Think no more? Let’s splurge it on Italiannies! The food is always huge and delicious and you get to dine in a nice ambience and great service. You also get the hearty Italian bread with olive oil & vinegar for FREE! You might want to join the membership for 10% rebate as well if you plan to come back often.

Kid’s Meal

The best thing? Kids eat free here! If you bring a kid and order a main course, you are entitled to get a kid’s meal for FREE! Let me assure you – the kid’s meal portion is not small either. We’ve tried the 8” thin Crust Magherita Pizza, Fried Parmesan Fish Fillet with Potato Wedges & Spaghetti Alfredo and they were all YUMMEH!!!!

The stuffed mushrooms are always sold out. We have been trying to order for few times but to no avail. We finally managed to order it once but found it a bit too salty for our taste. We did like the Caprese Salad which is light and appetizing.

Aglio olio is our regular order and we’ve already tried out the meatball spaghetti and it was HUGE eventhough it’s ‘piccolo’! The only thing that we were not so impressed was the pizza we ordered – It was the “Italiannies Special” but ironically it was nothing special and a bit tasteless.

Funny thing is we’ve never ordered desserts since the main has defeated us on stomach capacity. *facepalm* We do have some pictures of the drinks though. =P
